Putting public health at the heart of a community

rbl was appointed by Sandwell Public Health to develop a new name and brand identity for the Sandwell Lifestyle Choices service.

We were tasked with raising the service’s profile, which had been suffering since a change in management from the NHS to the local council. In Sandwell, the high levels of deprivation and transient population from diverse social backgrounds combine to reduce life expectancy to levels well below the national average.

Sandwell Public Health recognised that if they were ever to resonate with this difficult-to-reach audience and encourage take-up of their unique range of services, they needed to create a compelling brand, rooted within the community.

Following in-depth research, rbl worked with key stakeholders to create a diverse range of creative concepts. These were thoroughly tested with both the public and delivery partners. The result is a direct new name, ‘Healthy Sandwell’, and a flexible brand platform that mirrors the local community, providing Sandwell Public Health with powerful tools to get their message across.

RBL were so easy to work with. From the initial meeting with the team, we knew we were in very safe hands. The team are so knowledgeable about branding, and really helped us understand our current profile, and what we wanted it to look like in years to come. At the end of the project we were blown away with the outcomes. The work complete surpassed our expectations, was finished within our strict timescales and done within budget.
